COVID-19 Update

The Shire of Carnarvon is committed to bringing our community the latest resources and advice during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

A State of Emergency and Public Health Emergency was declared by the Minister for Emergency Services, due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19. This provides the State Government, the WA Police Force and the Chief Health Officer with the powers and flexibility they need to enforce quarantine and self-isolation measures, as was agreed at the National Cabinet meeting between the Prime Minister, State Premiers and Chief Ministers. The Department of Health is the Hazard Management Agency for this emergency, and you may hear them referred to as the HMA. As the HMA, they will provide the advice and direction we need. Local Government have limited authority in this situation, unless the Chief Minister of Health says otherwise.

The Department of Health are the lead agency for this situation and people are advised to visit their website as a true and accurate source of information.
