The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to announce that it has successfully secured $3.357 million from Lotterywest. This grant, combined with a Shire co-contribution of $554,000, and additional funding contributions of $1.049 million from other partner agencies, will be dedicated to the implementation of Phase One of the Carnarvon Activation Plan. The Plan, which was endorsed by Council at the Ordinary Council meeting in December 2023 provides a strategic vision to invigorate Carnarvon's community spaces and enhance visitor experiences.

The Shire of Carnarvon is excited to be selected as the designated location for the groundbreaking HyEnergy® Project, a venture set to revolutionize the green energy landscape in Western Australia.  Aligning with the Carnarvon Community Strategic Plan this project compliments the community’s vision. This project aligns with Carnarvon's unique geographical advantages making it an ideal site for the HyEnergy® Project.

The Shire of Carnarvon is thrilled to announce that it has successfully secured $500,000 in funding from the Local Government Resilience Fund, funded by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. This funding will be dedicated to vital upgrades to the Woolshed at the Civic Centre, serving as an evacuation centre for the Shire. The improvements will include roofing of the outdoor area, enhancements to the kitchen facilities, and interior renovations.

We’re pleased to announce that GHD has been appointed as the project manager for the Flood Preparedness Project at the Shire of Carnarvon. Through this project we aim to mitigate the devastating effects of future flooding events. As project manager, GHD will oversee all aspects of the project. We can't wait to see the success of this vital work!

The Shire of Carnarvon has announced the latest round of funding recipients from the Community Growth Fund. A total of five organisations have been successful in securing grants towards rates assistance.

The Shire was delighted to have three University of Western Australia students work with us for two and a half weeks as part of the McCusker Centre for Citizenship intern program. James, Ashley and Yasmeen worked in different departments across the Shire and experienced life in regional Western Australia while gaining hands-on knowledge of the workings of Local Government. 

The Shire is excited by the recent announcement we are to receive $240,000 in funding under round five of the State Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program, to support the construction of two houses for workforce accommodation.
