The Shire of Carnarvon is dedicated to building a strong and enriching community by supporting community-led initiatives and activities that will benefit local residents.
The Council has approved 18 applications for the 2021/2022 financial year as part of the Community Growth Fund 50% rates donation initiative, equating to nearly $50,000 in support to local community groups.
The Community Growth Fund provides an opportunity to support community groups and projects that improve outcomes within the Shire and its local community members.
Shire President, Eddie Smith said the organisations supported by the Shire of Carnarvon all play a vital role in strengthening the community.
“Community groups and clubs empower community wellbeing, address social needs, and create strong and connected local communities,” said Cr Smith.
“Through the challenges of the pandemic, the importance of community has become even more apparent.”
Cr Smith said the Community Growth Fund is part of their commitment to creating a more livable place for everyone, which has given out more than $100,000 over the past two years.
“Council is committed to creating a vibrant and connected place to live for all, therefore are deeply invested in supporting local community groups and clubs to grow and thrive.”
