The Shire of Carnarvon invites Expressions of Interest to local Sport Clubs and Community Groups to assist in operating and the management of an overflow campground for visitors on the Town Oval, during the April 2023 Solar Eclipse Event.
The facility will be put in place to meet demand when local commercial camp sites are at full capacity during peak times.
It is estimated the overflow campground on Town Oval will be open from 7 April 2023 for up to 3 weeks during the 2023 Solar Eclipse peak times, including Easter weekend and April school holidays.
The Campground Hosts must be available to be on call for the duration of the April school holidays this includes Easter weekend and the Solar Eclipse event (20 April 2023).
Depending on demand there is a possibility of extension. This opportunity would be a good income earner for your Sports Club or Community Group.
The Campground Host is required to be available and on call at short notice to check-in visitors on-site. It is preferred for on-site management from 2.30pm to 7.30pm during peak visitor times.
Bookings and payments will be made through the Carnarvon Visitor Centre office or online after 2.30pm, once it has been established that all commercial campgrounds are at full capacity.
The Carnarvon Visitor Centre will charge a $15 booking fee per booking. Maximum stay is 1 night. Rebooking of a site is required each day as needed.
The Campground Host responsibilities include, welcome after-hours visitors, liaise with the Visitors Centre team to communicate arrivals, payments and report any urgent issues to the relevant area, site management and cleaning of general rubbish.
Experience in customer service, complaint management or prior camp servicing will be highly regarded.
Access to a mobile device with internet and email access is essential.
Community Groups are invited to register their interest, outlining:
- Ability to staff the Town Oval Camping area during tourist peak times and Solar Eclipse period.
- Intended Check in and check out times
- Intended pricing structure (ensuring the Carnarvon Visitor Centre booking fee of $15 is considered)
