On Saturday the 2nd of July, Rangers from the Shire of Carnarvon responded to a police report of a dog attack on a young boy at a remote camp area near Gnaraloo, approximately 115km north of Carnarvon.

Shire Rangers subsequently impounded a dog on Sunday morning at the Shire animal pound. The owners of the animal were interviewed today and have cooperated fully with the incident investigation.  The dog was subsequently euthanised by veterinary services in Carnarvon this afternoon.

Shire President Mr Eddie Smith said, "this is clearly going to be a very difficult time for the young boy and his family and for the owners of the dog who were all simply enjoying a holiday in a lovely part of the world.  We wish the young fellow a speedy and full recovery.  I would  also like to thank all those in our local emergency services including volunteers who assisted in the first aid and swift transport of the boy to medical care."
