Emergency Update – Alert Levels Changed (Post Cyclone Narelle)
Carnarvon is now on Yellow Alert and Coral Bay is on Watch & Act (Orange Alert).
There is no active cyclone incident, however conditions may still be hazardous and emergency services are continuing to assess impacts across the region.
What to do:
- Take care when leaving your home (Carnarvon)
- In Coral Bay, remain alert and follow any advice to act if conditions change
- Be aware of debris, fallen trees and damaged infrastructure
- Avoid unnecessary travel where possible
- Follow directions from emergency services
Flood Watch – Gascoyne River (Yellow Alert)
With Tropical Cyclone Narelle tracking further east and bringing significant rainfall, there is potential for the Gascoyne River to flood in the coming days.
If safe to do so, now is the time to prepare:
- Follow directions in official warnings on Emergency WA
- Review your household flood plan (including pets and animals)
- Secure your property inside and out
- Locate your emergency kit and add any additional items
- Check on family, friends and neighbours
Total Fire Ban – Shire of Carnarvon: A Total Fire Ban is in place due to forecast catastrophic conditions. All open fires and activities that may cause sparks are prohibited.
Temporary Levee Works: As a precautionary measure, a temporary levee will be constructed between the Yacht Club and the West Street levee to assist in protecting residential areas.
Road Update
Harbour Road and nearby roads have now reopened.
Pelican Point Road is also open, however motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

Waste Services Update: The Waste Facility is back open Sunday 29 March from 8am-4pm.
If your bin collection is usually on Fridays and was not collected on Friday 27 March due to Tropical Cyclone Narelle, your bins will now be collected on Monday 30 March.
Coral Bay Waste Facility is closed until further notice.
Shire Administration: Shire Administration offices are closed Friday 27 March 2026.
Library & Art Gallery Update: Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery is closed Friday 27 March and Saturday 28 March 2026 due to forecast weather conditions associated with Tropical Cyclone Narelle.
