The Shire of Carnarvon elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October. The Shire President and Councillors are elected for a four-year term, with half of the Councillors terms concluding at each biennial election. Elections are by postal vote and are conducted by the WA Electoral Commission (WAEC).
Voting in local government elections is voluntary however all ratepayers are encouraged to support their local representatives and vote to have a say in the way their local Council is run. For further information please visit the WAEC Website.
The next Local Government election will be held on 18 October 2025.
Four Councillor positions are set to become vacant with the new terms to expire in October 2029. And one Concillor position with the term to expire in October 2027.
Candidate nominations open on Thursday 28 August 2025 and close at 4pm on Thursday 4 September 2025.
