This exciting project, funded by the Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, marks the first step in our commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and amenities, aligning with the Shire's Strategic Community Plan.

The Shire of Carnarvon is thrilled to announce the tremendous success of Women's Health Week 2023, which took place from 4 – 8 September. The week-long event, organised by the Shire, aimed to promote women's well-being and healthy lifestyles, and it exceeded all expectations with an overwhelming response from the community.

The Shire of Carnarvon proudly acknowledges the outstanding work of Andrea Musulin and the Carnarvon Family Support Services in the launch of the book 'Keeping Kids Safe in Carnarvon' as part of National Child Protection Week. This initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Shire of Carnarvon's Community Growth Fund, with 5000 copies of the book distributed across Carnarvon to benefit our community's children.

Following an announcement from REX Airlines that it would no longer provide additional services to Carnarvon ahead of the 2023 race season, the Carnarvon Race Club has been required to charter flights for jockeys and trainers. At the April meeting, Council approved the request to waive landing fees for the Race Club’s chartered flights with Skippers Aviation, supporting the local club in its 140th year.

The Shire of Carnarvon is pleased to announce that local Ningaloo artist Sadie James, in collaboration with Toni Roe, have been awarded the mural expression of interest (EOI) for the Carnarvon Central building. The theme for the mural is Connection to Country, with Burrowing Bees representing the storyline.

On Thursday 4 May 2023, the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor imposed conditions on the sale of liquor in Carnarvon. This is in response to, and in an attempt to reduce the current levels of alcohol-related harm in our community.

At the April Council Meeting, Councillors voted unanimously to adopt a 3% increase in rates using a Differential Rating method to fund the 2023/2024 Annual Budget.

The official Opening Event of the Visions of the Cosmos exhibition and book launch took place on Friday 14th April 2023, at the Shire of Carnarvon Library and Art Gallery. The opening commenced the five-week exhibition period which runs from 14th April to 20th May 2023.

Construction of a multi-stage development on the site of the old Police Station and Courthouse at 85 Olivia Terrace has been approved by the Shire of Carnarvon Council.

The much-needed refurbishment works have been completed on the Baxter Park ablutions and this important community facility will be reopened for public use tomorrow.

At the March Council meeting, Council resolved to allocate significant funding from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (Phase 4) funding program to the renewal and restoration of an iconic heritage and much-loved community asset, the Tramway Bridge.

Refurbishment works have been completed on the Cenotaph in the lead up to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and the 100th anniversary since its construction in 1923.

A project that was commenced in December last year in collaboration between Clontarf and the Shire has flourished and, as a result of those efforts, six wicking beds were delivered to the Main Street yesterday.

Refurbishment works totalling $170,000 have been completed at the Baston Pavilion, located at Carnarvon Festival Grounds in East Carnarvon prior to the commencement of the junior soccer season which has kicked off pre-season training.
