Thermal camera energy audit kit

Switch Your Thinking has launched an Energy Efficiency Pilot Program, which will run throughout 2025. Do-It-Yourself Home Energy Audits Kits are available for loan from more than 100 libraries and Community Resource Centres across Western Australia.

Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery has one kit available, which can be borrowed by Shire of Carnarvon residents with a current library membership. If you are not a library member, please head to our Library Membership page for details! After we sign you up, you can then borrow the kit or place a reservation.

What is in the kit?

The Energy Audit Kit includes:

  • A thermal imaging camera to help you locate draughts around your home and gaps in insulation, for checking fridge seals, and measuring hot water temperature.
  • A plug-in energy monitor for measuring energy consumption and the running costs of appliances.
  • A basin flow measuring cup to determine the water flow rate of your taps.
  • A thermometer for measuring the temperature of rooms, fridges and freezers.
  • A document case containing an energy audit kit instruction manual and other useful resources.

Make sure to download an Energy Observation Sheet so you can record your test results!
