CLEAN COMMUNITY COFFEES

The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to announce the Clean Community Coffees initiative, made possible by receiving $3,500 from the Keep Australia Beautiful Council (KABC) Community Litter Grant 2023. This program aims to promote a cleaner and more beautiful town by encouraging community members to actively participate in maintaining the cleanliness and amenity of our beloved Carnarvon.

What is the Clean Community Coffees initiative?

The Clean Community Coffees initiative is a program developed by the Shire of Carnarvon through funding received from Keep Australia Beautiful Council. It provides an opportunity for residents to enjoy a complimentary coffee at participating cafes in exchange for contributing to the cleanliness of our town.

How does the initiative work?

The funding received from the KABC Community Litter Grant 2023 has enabled us to create 500 vouchers, redeemable for a free coffee from participating cafes. These vouchers can be obtained from 1 August 2023 from the Shire of Carnarvon office on Francis Street. To claim a coffee voucher, participants are requested to return a full orange Keep Australia Beautiful litterbag, which will be available from the following designated locations:

  • The Deck Cafe
  • 6701 Waterfront Cafe
  • A Taste Of Italy By Valeria
  • Kestrel Cafe

Who is eligible to participate?

The Clean Community Coffees initiative is open to all residents of Carnarvon who wish to contribute to the beautification of our town. Everyone is welcome to join and help keep Carnarvon clean and litter-free. Collect an orange litterbag from the Shire front counter, participating cafes or the Visitor Centre.

Please note, in line with the State Government commitment to reducing single-use plastic in Western Australia, KABC is moving towards reusable resources for litter prevention activities. The Shire of Carnarvon are using a remainder of supplies of these single-use orange roadside litter bags for this project.

How do I claim a coffee voucher?

To claim a coffee voucher, follow these simple steps:

  • Pick up litter in and around Carnarvon.
  • Dispose of the collected litter in the designated Keep Australia Beautiful litter bags.
  • Bring the filled litter bag to the Shire of Carnarvon. (Additional redemption locations to come.)
  • Exchange the filled litter bag for a coffee voucher, which can be redeemed at participating cafes.

Can I use my own reusable cup for the free coffee?

Absolutely! In line with our commitment to sustainability and reducing waste, participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups when redeeming their coffee vouchers. Let's work together to make this initiative environmentally friendly.

How can cafes participate in the Clean Community Coffees program?

Cafes in Carnarvon interested in joining the Clean Community Coffees program can easily take part by sending an email to Keely Robertson at shire@carnarvon.wa.gov.au. Upon expressing interest, the Shire of Carnarvon will provide all the necessary information and support to ensure a smooth and successful collaboration.
