PLANNING AN EVENT

Planning a community event in the Shire of Carnarvon?

Whether you are organising a small community gathering, public celebration, market, concert, fundraiser or larger event, the Shire is here to help you understand what approvals, permits and supporting documents may be required.

Before hosting an event on Shire land, in a public place, or at a Shire-managed venue, event organisers are required to complete a Community Event Application. This helps ensure your event is safe, well planned and meets local requirements.

Before you apply

Depending on your event, you may need to provide additional information such as:

Public Liability Insurance

If your event is open to the public, you must provide a minimum of $20 million Public Liability Insurance.

Site Plan

A site plan must be submitted with your application and should show the event layout, including stalls, marquees, parking, toilets, entry and exit points, stages and other key areas.

Food and Drink
If food or drinks will be sold or served, you may need to complete a temporary food stall application.

Alcohol
If alcohol will be sold or served, additional permits may be required.

Noise and Amplification
Events using amplified sound, live music, PA systems or other noise sources may require a noise notification letter or noise management plan.

Traffic and Road Closures
If your event impacts roads, parking or pedestrian access, a traffic management plan or resident notification letter may be required.

Structures and Amusements
Marquees, stages, lighting bars, speaker stands, rides, inflatables or fireworks may require additional certification or approvals.
