Martin Aldridge

A Commissioner has been appointed to perform the functions of the Council and Shire President during this period by the Order 2026, Local Government (Carnarvon Declaration of Vacancies and Appointment of Commissioner) Order 2026.
Commissioner Aldridge undertakes the governance and decision-making role that would ordinarily be carried out by elected members. This includes decisions relating to policy, strategic direction, financial oversight, resource allocation and the Shire’s statutory responsibilities.
The Chief Executive Officer and Shire Administration continue to manage the day-to-day operations of the Shire, deliver services to the community, implement decisions and provide advice to the Commissioner.
The Commissioner’s role is to support stable governance, responsible and lawful decision-making, continuity of services and public confidence until elected representation is restored.
For general service requests, operational matters or day-to-day Shire enquiries, community members should continue to contact the Shire through the usual customer service channels.
