At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 29 April 2025, the Council endorsed the detailed designs for the Tramway Shelter on Whitlock Island and the Lock Hospital Healing Space at the Heritage Precinct, key components of the Carnarvon Activation Project, proudly funded by Lotterywest.
These designs represent a significant step forward in celebrating Carnarvon’s heritage and honouring the stories of the past. The Shire extends its sincere thanks to all stakeholders and community members who contributed their insights and support throughout the design process.
Shire President Eddie Smith said the designs reflect the community’s deep connection to place. “The Tramway Shelter and Healing Space are about more than infrastructure, they are spaces for remembrance, reflection, and connection,” he said. “We’re proud to be working with the community to deliver meaningful public spaces that speak to our shared history.”
The next stage of the project will see the development of a Tender Document, inviting local contractors to submit proposals for the construction phase.
Please note that the current images are indicative design drawings only, and some variations may occur during the final build process following tender submissions.
