Art With Gills was the debut solo exhibition by Western Australian artist Leanne Gillham. A self-taught painter of over ten years, Leanne's work explores colour, texture, and marine life - inspired by her love of the ocean, the outdoors, and a chance encounter with a fish encyclopedia that transformed her artistic direction.
Working primarily on canvas with crayons and textured elements, Leanne brings a vibrant, tactile energy to her detailed studies of marine species. In 2025, she painted her first solo mural at the 6701 Waterfront Café, and she continues to develop new projects and workshops to inspire others to pursue their own creative paths.
The opening event on Friday 20 March drew an incredible crowd, with heartfelt speeches, a buzzing atmosphere, and multiple artworks sold on the night - a fantastic celebration of Leanne's journey as an artist.
