Every four years, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries asks the Shire of Carnarvon to produce something called a ‘Strategic Community Plan’ (SCP). According to the Department, it will identify your community's long-term goals and priorities.
"The Shire of Carnarvon wants to use the Strategic Community Plan process as a way to fulfil our obligation to the department and create a plan for our Shire to be the place everyone has wanted it to be for ten years. I’m so glad the staff voted to call the process to create the Plan “6701: Growing our Horizons", said Shire President Eddie Smith.
6701: Growing our Horizons starts from two key ideas. The long-term future goals of a community should start with those who will live in that future – the youth of that community. The other key idea is that the residents can partner with Council to make wise yet hopeful decisions about their future.
