A celebration of creativity and community in the Gascoyne Region Entries are now open for the Gascoyne Art Awards 2026 (GAA26) until midnight on 31 May 2026.

Melbourne-based artist Linda Tegg is returning to Carnarvon for the final stage of her residency as part of Circular Economies, supported by SPACED and the Shire of Carnarvon. Her new project, Situational Awareness, explores the region's night skies, the historic OTC satellite dish, and Yinggarda cultural stories, premiering at the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum before travelling to PICA in 2026.

Jimmy's first exhibition, Creative Way of Doing Art, was a fun and creative night celebrating his unique view of the world through masks, puppets, and paintings. The Halloween-themed opening brought live music, piñatas, and plenty of candy, with Jimmy himself wearing a self-made mask as part of the experience. It was a great turnout with artwork sold on the night, making it a really special moment for Jimmy.

The Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery was packed on Friday evening, 29 August as locals came together for the opening of "Solid Ground", the fantastic new art exhibition showcasing artists from across our region. Shooting Stars is an education and empowerment program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls in Western and South Australia. Based in twenty-two schools, Shooting Stars is staffed by predominantly Aboriginal women (85%) and reaches over 1,200 girls and young women.

On Wednesday, 25 October, the Shire of Carnarvon Library and Art Gallery marked a significant milestone in its history by celebrating a decade since its relocation from what is now the Council Chambers to the former old Squash Courts. Over the past ten years, this vibrant space has transformed into a hub for learning, diverse programs, and the flourishing of arts and culture, enriching the lives of the community.

To coincide with ‘The Alternative Archive’ touring to Carnarvon, the ART ON THE MOVE team travelled to our sunny coastal town to work alongside the Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery Team, guiding them through the process of exhibition installation and condition reporting. It was wonderful to connect with their fantastic team and pass on some of our expert advice, tips, and tricks.

The official Opening Event of the Visions of the Cosmos exhibition and book launch took place on Friday 14th April 2023, at the Shire of Carnarvon Library and Art Gallery. The opening commenced the five-week exhibition period which runs from 14th April to 20th May 2023.
