Visitors and residents may have noticed works underway in front of the Dunnings mural as the Shire of Carnarvon relocates the well-known cactus garden previously located on South River Road.

The Shire has been working with the owners of the cactus collection to preserve this unique local feature and ensure it remains accessible for the wider community to enjoy.

The collection has been generously donated to the community and is now being established alongside the Dunnings mural, creating an attractive public space that celebrates another distinctive part of Carnarvon's character.

The new location will allow residents and visitors to continue enjoying the cactus garden while complementing one of Carnarvon's most recognisable public artworks.

The Shire would like to thank the owners for their generosity and for working collaboratively to ensure the collection can continue to be appreciated by future generations.

Works are continuing, and the Shire looks forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses.
