Tidy Towns Awards Finalist

The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to be named a finalist in three categories of the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards, recognising the hard work and community spirit that make Carnarvon such a special place.

Litter Action – Litter Legends
Led by community champions Wayne and Jeannette Taylor, the Litter Legends program has inspired locals to roll up their sleeves each week and keep Carnarvon clean and beautiful - one bag of rubbish (and one coffee) at a time!

Young Legends – Helen Tipton, Community Development Team Lead
At just 24, Helen has delivered more than 100 programs and events that connect, empower, and inspire. Her leadership in youth projects, cultural celebrations, and sustainability initiatives has made a lasting impact across our community.

General Appearance – Beautiful Streets: 6701
This vibrant initiative has transformed our streets and public spaces through community-led art, greening projects, and placemaking. From Egan Street murals to planter boxes and the Youth Precinct upgrades,  it’s a true celebration of local pride and creativity.

Shire President Eddie Smith said “These nominations capture what makes Carnarvon so unique, passionate locals who care deeply about their town. Whether it’s Wayne and Jeannete leading the charge against litter, Helen empowering young people to lead change, or our community transforming streets through art and pride, it all comes down to Carnarvon’s people. We’re a town that rolls up our sleeves and works together to make things better and that’s what these awards are all about.”

The Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards will be held on Thursday, 28 November at Optus Stadium, and we look forward to sharing the results with our community.
