Funding available through the Carnarvon Creatives Collective Program

Thanks to generous support from Horizon Power, the Carnarvon Creative Collective Program has been bringing creativity, connection, and community spirit to life in Carnarvon. So far, three creative projects have been funded, each offering hands-on opportunities for locals to learn, create, and share.

  1. In January and February 2025, Devinia Wainwright led a series of communal weaving sessions, drawing in participants of all ages and backgrounds. The final woven piece was later exhibited in the Reconciliation Exhibition: Bridging Now to Next in March 2025, a powerful showcase of storytelling through art.
  2. Through March, Raymond Edney hosted a series of watercolour workshops on Country at Miaboolya, where participants gathered in the evening light to paint landscapes and share stories. These sessions not only built artistic confidence but also encouraged many to continue their creative journeys in watercolour painting.
  3. In April, Toni Edney ran upcycling workshops, showing people how to transform discarded or unwanted items into functional, beautiful pieces. These workshops championed sustainability and gave participants the skills and inspiration to continue creating beyond the sessions.

Together, these workshops have strengthened artistic skills, nurtured local talent, built social connection, and activated safe, inclusive spaces in our community. Horizon Power’s funding directly supports local artists to be paid for delivering workshops, while helping to grow Carnarvon’s creative economy and cultural capacity.

Now, it’s your turn! If you’re a local creative with an idea for a community-based project or workshop, applications are now open for the next round of funding through the Carnarvon Creative Collective Program.

To express your interest or submit a proposal, please send an email to: robertson.k@carnarvon.wa.gov.au

Applications can be brief and don’t require an ABN - just a strong creative idea and a plan to share it with the community.

Let’s keep Carnarvon creative!
