The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to announce an opportunity for a talented Aboriginal artist or collaboration to paint a mural on the front of the council building on Yinggarda country. The mural’s theme will be "Reflect, Respect and Celebrate" to acknowledge the rich cultural heritage and history of the Yinggarda people.
This exciting project will provide the chosen artist with a platform to showcase their skills and tell a powerful story that reflects the area’s cultural significance. The mural will represent the council's commitment to inclusiveness and respect for First Nations people as per our Reconciliation Plan.
Interested artists are invited to submit their proposals, including a rough sketch or concept for the mural, by Wednesday, 1 March. A panel will be convened to access the applications, and the Shire will work closely with the chosen artist to bring the vision to life.
This is a unique and meaningful opportunity for local Aboriginal artists to make a lasting impact on the community and share their talent. For further information and to submit a proposal, please contact the Shire on (08) 9941 0000.
The council looks forward to seeing the creative and inspiring artwork that will adorn the front of the building and be a source of pride for the local community.
