The Shire of Carnarvon advises that Shire President, Eddie Smith, has formally resigned from the position of Shire President, effective Friday, 1 May 2026.
Mr Smith has served the Carnarvon community for nearly two decades, having first been elected to Council in 2006. He was subsequently elected as Shire President by the community in October 2019 and has held the role since that time.
The Shire acknowledges and thanks Mr Smith for his long-standing service and commitment to the Carnarvon community over many years.

Deputy Shire President, Burke Maslen, said:
“On behalf of Council, I would like to sincerely thank Eddie Smith for his years of service to the Carnarvon community, he gave to his community his heart and soul and is recognised for his extensive contribution to our community for nearly 20 years.”
