The Shire of Carnarvon is pleased to announce it has successfully secured funding through the Streets Alive program delivered by Doing Co (formally Town Team Movement) in partnership with Main Roads Western Australia and the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA).
The funding was awarded through the Stream 2 funding round and will support the delivery of the Beautiful Streets: 6701 – Activate Robinson Street project, following the successful engagement of placemaking expert David Engwicht in April 2025. The engagement brought together local businesses and stakeholders to identify opportunities to transform Robinson Street into a safer, slower and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors, while enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of Carnarvon's town centre.
Through a series of creative place activation initiatives, including street murals, public art and traffic-calming treatments, the project will encourage greater pedestrian activity, improve road safety, and create a more attractive and engaging public space.
The Streets Alive program supports local governments and communities to deliver innovative street improvement projects that create safer, more people-friendly streets across Western Australia.
The Shire is excited to begin engaging with the community to help shape the project and bring this vibrant vision for Robinson Street to life, ensuring the main street reflects the unique character and identity of Carnarvon.
