Restoration Kicks off on Our Treasured Tramway Bridge!

Stage One of restoration work for the iconic Tramway Bridge is set to commence!

From tomorrow, Wednesday 8 April, the bridge will be temporarily closed to all pedestrians as the restoration begins, with contractor Ventia on site to bring the bridge back to its best.

This phase kicks off with blasting and painting works, including to the drawbridge, which will have restricted access until 27 April.

Pedestrian access will remain temporarily closed until safe and we ask that in the meantime the community enjoy the restoration progress from a distance.

These essential works will protect the bridge for years to come, ensuring it remains a safe, beautiful part of the community’s landscape.

This restoration is a key component of the Tramway Trail Walk project, part of the broader Activate Carnarvon initiative, proudly supported by $15.55 million from the Australian Government’s regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP).

We thank the community for your patience and support as we invest in this cherished local asset and will keep you updated as progress occurs. When complete, the Tramway Bridge will be stronger, brighter, and ready for the community to enjoy for generations to come!
