Portraits of Yinggarda

The Shire of Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery invites Expressions of Interest from artists to participate in Portraits of Yinggarda, a creative community art project.

This is a unique opportunity for artists to connect with and paint a portrait of a Yinggarda Elder, celebrating their stories and legacy. The project, led by creative producer Gosia Taylor, will be a deep collaboration with the Elders themselves.

Selected artists will be invited to participate in a series of art classes commencing in September to develop their portraits in a supportive, collaborative environment. The final collection will be launched in an exhibition during Reconciliation Week 2026 and become a treasured part of the Shire’s Art Collection.

Expressions of Interest for artists to paint a portrait are open from 1 to 31 July.

Join us in creating art that celebrates, connects, and preserves cultural stories for future generations.
