The Shire of Carnarvon has formally adopted its 2025/2026 Annual Budget at a Special Council Meeting held on Tuesday, 15 July 2025.
The endorsed budget reflects Council’s commitment to driving practical outcomes aligned with the Strategic Community Plan, while ensuring financial sustainability and continued investment in local infrastructure, services, and liveability.
Shire President Eddie Smith said the budget positions the Shire to deliver key projects that will strengthen the community and regional economy.
“This is a budget built on strong foundations. It enables us to keep investing in roads, open spaces, community services, and town revitalisation while continuing to attract external funding for major projects,” he said.
“This budget focuses on doing the essentials well while laying the groundwork for long-term improvements that strengthen Carnarvon’s future as a vibrant, resilient, and welcoming community.”
Key features of the 2025/2026 Budget include:
- Continued investment in essential infrastructure maintenance and renewal
- Support for major capital works through a combination of Shire funds and grant funding
- Operational support for community programs, events, and services
- Responsible financial management to maintain service levels and minimise debt
The budget also supports the delivery of projects under the recently announced $15.554 million Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (RPPP), which includes upgrades to Van Dongen Park, the Tramway Walk Trail, a new art and lighting trail, and development of The Pier build-to-lease apartments.
