The Shire of Carnarvon is making strong progress in its mission to restore one of the town’s most treasured landmarks — the iconic Tramway Bridge. The Tramway Bridge Restoration Project has officially moved into its next phase, marking a significant milestone in the journey to bring this piece of local history back to life.

Following the successful completion of investigative works and technical studies, the project has now entered the second stage: geotechnical investigations. This phase is being conducted Ventia and involves drilling and soil sampling on and around the bridge site to better understand the ground conditions. The results of these investigations are essential, as they will help to inform the future engineering and structural design of the restoration.

The Tramway Bridge holds a special place in the hearts of Carnarvon residents and represents an important link to the region’s heritage. Restoring the bridge not only honours the past, but also offers exciting potential for future community use and tourism attraction.

The Shire is committed to keeping the community informed as the project progresses, and looks forward to seeing the bridge become a proud and functional feature of the Carnarvon landscape once again.
