The Tramway trail holds deep meaning for the Carnarvon community, and on Wednesday 30th April, many of these memories were shared at the Stories of the Tramway morning tea at Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery.
Locals discussed their memories, brought in historical photographs and keepsakes, and reminisced on past adventures involving the trail. The event was organized as part of the Tramway Walk Trail, a significant heritage project aimed at celebrating Carnarvon’s rich history by enhancing storytelling along the historic tramway route. As part of the Carnarvon Activation Plan, this project will see the installation of interpretive signage along the existing 2.5km trail, creating a unique and educational experience for residents and visitors alike.
The Shire of Carnarvon is building a collection of oral and written historical stories related to the Tramway and what it means to you, so if you would like to be a part of this initiative, library staff would love to hear from you! Head to our Local History page for more information about the Carnarvon Activation Plan and how you can share your story of the Tramway.
