From 10 October to 5 December 2026, the Carnarvon Library and Art Gallery was transformed by The Good, a captivating solo exhibition from artist Anna Louise Richardson. Featuring 16 monumental charcoal and graphite drawings, the show offered a deeply personal window into Australian country life.

Working from her family’s multi-generational cattle farm on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodja (Mundijong), Richardson creates lifelike scenes that reflect on parenthood, passing knowledge down through generations, and navigating the delicate balance between humanity and nature.

We kicked off the exhibition on Saturday, 10 October, with a wonderful morning at the gallery. Anna, who made the trip to Carnarvon with her family, led an intimate walkthrough of the space. Her talk highlighted the quiet ingenuity of station life, sparking great conversation among visitors about how everyday farm tools are endlessly mended and given new purpose.

Under her hand, simple objects and family moments became almost sculptural, tracing kinship, care, and a quiet insistence on finding the good. It was a privilege to share Anna’s remarkable work with the Carnarvon community.

Curated by Rachel Arndt & Dr Lee-Anne Hall. A Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, The Condensery and Museums & Galleries of NSW touring exhibition, presented locally through ART ON THE MOVE. This project was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia and the Government of Western Australia through the Department, Culture and the Arts (WA). This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal art investment and advisory body.
