Australia Day Fireworks Closures and Information

Published on Monday, 22 January 2024 at 4:35:45 PM

The Shire of Carnarvon wishes to advise the community that the planned fireworks on Friday 26 January 2024 are scheduled to go ahead with the only exception being high winds over the approved safety perimeters (shown in the attached image) for the event on the night.

The Gascoyne River Bushfire Brigade service will be providing fire crews to ensure that our fire mitigation is in place for the event.

Due to the nature of fireworks, the following area will not be accessible to the public

  • No access to Whitlock Island from 4pm
  • The Fascine Tramway Footbridge will be closed from 6pm
  • No boats will have access to the Fascine past the boat ramp from 3pm

The fireworks are planned to go off at 8pm, or slightly after subject to all final checks.

Please remember to ensure that your pets are looked after and in a safe and secure location, fireworks can scare them and cause them to run away, we don’t want this to happen and cause it to ruin your or your pet's day.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates if there will be a delay or cancellation of the fireworks.
