Published on Tuesday, 8 August 2023 at 12:09:17 PM

The Shire of Carnarvon wishes to advise that Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) will be undertaking a planned burn in East Carnarvon on Tuesday 15 August 2023 commencing at approximately 9.00 am.

These burns will continue until Friday 18 August 2023.

The burn will be located on the vacant land located between the Gascoyne River, Margaret Row, Kadaram Road and Chinaman's Pool Nature Reserve.

DFES, Carnarvon Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Gascoyne River Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades will be on site to control the burn rate and extinguish the fire by the end of each day.

Smoke from this prescribed burn may affect the surrounding areas. If you have a respiratory condition or are affected by smoke, you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.

Prescribed burns are being undertaken by the Shire and DFES to mitigate the severity of bushfires and to help protect lives and property by reducing the build-up of flammable fuel loads.

Members of the community are requested to exercise caution and obey all warning signs and directions from authorised Shire personnel and contractors.

The Shire apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
