Art With Gills

About the Artist

I am a Western Australian artist who has been painting for around ten years, beginning with textured abstract ocean‑inspired pieces I used to create in my garage.
Before moving up north, I came across a fish encyclopedia that sparked my curiosity about how different species might look against various coloured backgrounds. That discovery led me to experiment with darker tones and more detailed studies of marine life. I love working on canvas and often incorporate crayons and textured elements, a process that fits naturally with my outdoorsy lifestyle and love of fishing.
In 2025, I painted my first solo mural at the 6701 Waterfront Café, and I have a few new projects on the way this year.
When I’m not teaching, painting is the space where I reconnect - a natural extension of my time spent outdoors. I now work primarily on canvas, exploring a variety of styles and mediums to bring my ideas to life. I continue to develop new projects and workshops in the hope of inspiring others to pursue the creative paths they feel drawn to.
