The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to announce its success as the winner of the Aware Super Warlang Award for Workplace Wellbeing in the below 15,000 population category.
This achievement was announced at an event where 5 local governments located across Western Australia were recognised for their contributions to fostering a culture of health, learning, inclusion, flexibility, and work/life balance within their workplaces.
The win demonstrates the Shire’s commitment to creating a healthy and inclusive workplace for all its staff. The key achievement that contributed to this victory was a substantial review and a significant expansion of the Shire's retention policy. This policy is based on promoting workplace well-being and fostering a culture of learning, inclusion, and work/life balance.
As a result of this policy, the Shire of Carnarvon has witnessed a decline in staff turnover which has gone from 38% in 2021 to 10% in 2023. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the Shire’s efforts in fostering a healthier, more engaged team and more productive work environment.
