The much-needed refurbishment works have been completed on the Baxter Park ablutions and this important community facility will be reopened for public use tomorrow.

Works on the ablutions included resurfaced floors, internal and external lighting upgrade/installation, fully enclosed rooms, roof replacement, decommissioned septic tanks and connection to deep sewer, external façade upgrades and new fixtures and fittings throughout.

Already the starting point for Carnarvon’s Saturday morning Baxter Parkrun event and multiple outdoor fitness classes, the refurbishment of the toilets aims to provide a great public amenity for current users of the park, with the ongoing playground project to further boost activity in Baxter for families in the area.

Shire officers now proceeding to the next stage of Baxter Park upgrade.  To recap the plans and status are:
✅ Installation of two electric BBQ’s
✅ Removal of expired/damaged playground equipment
✅ Installation of shade sails
✅ Toilet refurbishment
✅ Tender awarded for Design & Construct of new playground
🕦 Design of nature playground in draft stages now
🕦 Design to be approved and construction begins!

Further community updates will be provided once the playground design is finalised.

Be sure to include Baxter Park on your route if you’re walking, running, skating or cycling along our beautiful Fascine. You’ll see it be transformed in the coming months.

This project has been funded by the Federal Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program with local contractors doing a fantastic job to improve the Shire’s facilities.
