Shire of Carnarvon Receives Inspire WA Funding for National Science Week Events

The Shire of Carnarvon is excited to announce that it has received funding from Inspire WA to host a series of engaging and educational events in celebration of National Science Week. These events, aimed at fostering a love for science and exploration among the youth of the community, will highlight the fascinating worlds of rocketry, agriculture, and engineering.

In collaboration with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Central Regional Tafe, the Shire of Carnarvon is committed to delivering a range of informative and engaging workshops.

As part of the week’s festivities, the Shire of Carnarvon will host a Young Rocketeers Workshop on Monday, 14 August, from 3pm to 5pm at the Mayu Mia Youth Hub. This event will provide an opportunity for young participants to delve into the exciting world of rocketry, exploring the principles of physics and engineering through hands-on activities and interactive learning experiences.

On the same day, participants will have the unique chance to take part in an Agriculture Workshop, where discussions on commonly used machinery, insects, locally grown produce, and interactive soil rotation stations will provide invaluable insights into the world of agriculture and sustainable farming practices.

The Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery , located at Egan Street, will host the culmination of the week's events with the Young Engineers Challenge on Saturday, 19 August, from 10am to 12pm. This challenge will put the creative and problem-solving skills of young minds to the test. Participants will engage in exciting engineering activities, pushing the boundaries of their imagination and enhancing their understanding of how things work.
