Congratulations to new Aquatic Centre Managers BTX Contracting, who were awarded the Shire contract in June 2022, and have since been bustling with activity getting ready to welcome swimmers back through the gates on Saturday 24 September at 10am.

The kiosk is stocked with drinks, some hot food and lollies, with the addition of a coffee machine, slushie machine and EFTPOS service when you need to purchase a snack or season pass at the door.
The team is excited to share that swimming merchandise is also on the way to keep you swimming in style. Once the Carnarvon Amateur Swim Club commence training in October, meals will be available to purchase and eat by the pool, or take home after a training session for our busy swimmers and families.

Duty Manager Tim Saunders joins the team after five years’ experience managing pools in Newman, Marble Bar, South and Port Hedland.
Tim says he’s looking forward to a great safe season this summer, stating the pool is around 24-25 degrees celsius now, thanks to the pool covers, making it perfect for lap swimmers.

Jessica Fernihough has been competitively swimming in Carnarvon since 2011, is a Duty Manager and is also seeking expressions of interest from the community to deliver Heart Beat Club, Bronze Medallion training (and reaccreditation), and the AquaSkills 55+ aqua aerobics programs this season. Jessica is passionate about pool safety and welcomes any enquiries about her training programs.

The season calendar is already starting to fill up with events including:

  • Carnarvon Amateur Swim Club training commences Term 4, Week 1
  • Swimming lessons starting term 4
  • Carnarvon Christian School Swimming Carnival 20 October
  • St Mary’s Swimming Carnival 25 October

“I had the pleasure of opening the 2022 Country Pennants Swimming competition in March this year, and it was fantastic to see swimmers from across the state utilising the facilities we have” adding, “we’re so lucky to have a local contractor to take on the management of the centre to ensure the great facility continues to be available for the community”.
