The Shire of Carnarvon extends its gratitude to Real Futures Pty Ltd for their pivotal role in the revitalisation of the Skate Park within the Youth Precinct. This project, made possible through funding from the Gascoyne Development Commission, marks a significant step forward in providing vibrant recreational spaces for the youth of our community.

The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to announce the receipt of a $10,000 grant from the Saluting Their Service - Commemorative Grants program for the establishment of a War Memorial in Coral Bay. This significant funding will enable the community to finally have a dedicated space to honour and commemorate the individuals who have bravely served our country.

The Shire of Carnarvon thrilled to announce that it has successfully secured $26,050 in funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industry, as part of the Outdoor Active Recreation Participation Program. The Shire will use this funding to deliver a series of mountain-biking workshops using the pump track to assist Carnarvon’s youth develop the skills and confidence to use this new infrastructure. The project will further enhance youth engagement with the pump track, giving young people the confidence and competence to progress with this recreation activity.

The Shire of Carnarvon is pleased to announce that Darryl Bellotti, a Malgana Yamatji man and accomplished artist and graphic designer, has been selected to bring his artistic talents to the forefront of the Skate Park mural as part of the Carnarvon Youth Precinct Revitalisation project. Born and raised in Carnarvon, Darryl's profound connection to the land and deep appreciation for his cultural heritage uniquely inform his artistic expression. Through his creative expertise, Darryl communicates traditional knowledge, instilling a sense of culture into his projects.

Volunteers from various branches of emergency services convened to join Assistant Commissioner North, Gary Gifford, and Superintendent Midwest Gascoyne, Mark Bowen, in a collective effort.

Over the past three days, more than 40 beloved pets from Carnarvon have undergone spaying and neutering procedures at the Mungullah Community Hall. This initiative, offering complimentary microchipping and desexing services, extended a warm invitation to furry friends from all corners of the community.

Yesterday marked the start of Homeless Week 2023. The week highlights the collective actions needed by community, together with all levels of government to help break the cycle of homelessness. Homelessness Week 2023 is a time to raise awareness of people experiencing homelessness or sleeping rough in our community.

We’re pleased to announce that GHD has been appointed as the project manager for the Flood Preparedness Project at the Shire of Carnarvon. Through this project we aim to mitigate the devastating effects of future flooding events. As project manager, GHD will oversee all aspects of the project. The Shire of Carnarvon is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $3,600 from Injury Matters as part of the Stay on Your Feet program. The July school holidays are just around the corner, and the Carnarvon community is in for a treat! The Shire of Carnarvon is delighted to announce an action-packed program that promises to keep kids of all ages entertained and engaged throughout the holiday break.

The Give Write initiative has partnered with the Shire of Carnarvon to provide pre-loved stationery packs. The Give Write Packs project equips students with the necessary tools to make the most of their education.

The much-needed refurbishment works have been completed on the Baxter Park ablutions and this important community facility will be reopened for public use tomorrow.

The Shade Sails installation is now complete at Town Beach, thanks to funding from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Programme and from Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation as part of the Total Solar Eclipse event. This has resulted in much-needed the shade coverage of the playground area.

Works commence Tuesday 31 January on Stage One of the Skate Park refurbishment.  The works include removing existing park furniture to allow access for concrete works and upgrades to furniture.

Infrastructure projects identified to improve the overall amenity of Carnarvon and Coral Bay through the 2023 Total Solar Eclipse and beyond, led by the Shire with funding support from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), have resulted in the majority of project contracts awarded to local contractors.

The Shire of Carnarvon Council has agreed to enter into a licence agreement with Horizon Power for the installation of two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the town centre. The EV charging stations will be built on an area of land on Camel Lane for use by the community and visitors.

The Shire is excited to announce major redevelopment works for Baxter Park which will be implemented over the next six months.
